Ottawa, ON – The heat was on in Bowmanville last weekend. Not only were temperatures approaching the 40°C mark, but Mark Motors Racing continued their hot streak taking top spot in both Porsche GT3 Canada Cup races.

Young phenom Roman De Angelis cruised to back to back first place finishes with two impressive outings. The dominating series point leader (203), put great space between the competition with a fastest lap almost one-tenth of a second quicker than any other racer. Starting with pole position, De Angelis set the pace with smooth and skillful driving.

“Basically, tried to pull off consistent laps the whole 45 minutes and not make mistakes,” describes De Angelis. “Have to give a lot of credit to the crew for preparing the car so well.”

Topping the Platinum Masters Series in both races, Marco Cirone battled the entire weekend. The veteran driver moved up from his qualifying spot of seventh to fourth and sixth respectively on Saturday and Sunday.

“A great weekend for the Mark Motors team, as we increased the points lead in both categories,” expressed Marco. “The team is firing on all cylinders and we want to continue that momentum for next week’s race at the Toronto Honda Indy.”

Joining Marco on the Platinum Masters podium, Perry Bortolotti also turned out a valiant effort at CTMP. After starting the weekend in ninth, Bortolotti charged up to seventh on Saturday, but fell back to tenth on Sunday after some rough luck.

“The first race was going well until I got a little aggressive overtaking the competition, and spun the car, losing all positions I had overtaken. Luckily there was enough time in the race that I could close the gap,” Bortolotti explained.

“The second race was a disappointment as I was handed a penalty. Again, I managed to catch the P2 car with two laps to go, but unfortunately used up all my Yokohama rubber getting to him and could not complete the pass. I was happy to have two Platinum Masters podiums despite my setbacks.”

Executive Vice President of Mark Motors Liza Mrak was extremely impressed by the team’s showing at CTMP and their continued success over the 2019 season.

“The entire Mark Motors family could not be prouder of the crew and drivers for their efforts on and off the track,” Liza exclaimed. “Their cohesiveness and teamwork has been noticeable throughout every race this year.”

The Mark Motors Racing team is back on the track in Toronto for Honda Indy July 12-14.
