Heading into the back half of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada season, Mark Motors Racing is leading the pack by a wide margin. The three-racer team of De Angelis, Cirone, and Bortolotti returns to the track this weekend in the Honda Indy looking to lengthen their streak of success.
Rising star driver Roman De Angelis holds a 27-point lead over second place Parker Thompson and hasn’t given up the pole position in over 50 days. The young Canadian has won the last five races and will be hard to catch with only six left in 2019.
“I always look forward to street races especially when there so close to home!” smiled Roman.
“Toronto is an amazing event. The atmosphere around the paddock is awesome as well as the track layout itself which always leads to good battles. Which is fun for us, and for the fans!”
The past two events have seen Marco Cirone run into some rough luck on the track. Currently sitting in fifth, the Toronto native is looking to regain his early season success with a great showing at the Indy in front of lots of fans.
“Really excited about this one!” Marco exclaimed.
“We’ve had good success there. I really enjoy running this street circuit. It will be great to have so many friends and family attend and support us. Can’t wait to get started!”
After only competing two of three events so far, Perry Bortolotti has made the most of his appearances. Compiling and average of just over 23 points per race, Bortolotti hopes to jump into top-ten positioning this weekend in Toronto.
“Looking forward to getting back into the Mark Motors car with back to back race weekends,” expressed Perry.
“The street course can be tricky with the different transitions in pavement and concrete barriers everywhere you look. There is little to no room for error which adds to the excitement. However I have historically had good success on street circuits. Therefore the expectation is for a strong podium finish.”
