Bomanville, Ontario – At the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park where the season kicked off, the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada hosted its final 3 races.

Race 1 on Friday, September 1st was a rescheduled race from Watkin’s Glen earlier in the season which was cancelled due to a multi-car crash. Even with minor issues with the cars, all our drivers finished on the podium! Zach Robichon came in 2nd in Platinum Class, Marco Cirone finishes 1st in Platinum Masters and Roman De Angelis took 1st in Gold class.

Saturday was Race 2 which drew the same results. Driver Robichon tried a different tweak to his car which ultimately did not pay off, but he was honest in admitting it was not recommended by his team but he still decided to move forward and try it out.

Sunday’s race 3 was the most exciting of the weekend by far! Track conditions were wet and slippery but that seemed to work to the Mark Motors team advantage. The race started off without a hitch but quickly Robichon pulled off a pass and took the leading spot! Behind him was fellow driver De Angelis who skillfully moved himself all the way up to 2nd place! When the checkered flag was waved, Zach Robichon finished 1st overall and 1st in Platinum, De Angelis finished 2nd overall and 1st in Gold and Cirone finished 7th overall and 1st in Platinum Masters. “What an amazing day for us with all three teammates winning in class” said De Angelis. “We had the best finish of the year with a second place overall and P1 in class. I had a great battle with Scott and really enjoy racing in the rain and the challenges it brings, so that was even more rewarding.”

With the end of the season comes the championship awards ceremony. It was no surprise that rising star Roman De Angelis was the 2017 Gold Class champion. “This year has been nothing but amazing for me winning the class championship and now fighting for the US championship as well” said De Angelis. “I cannot thank enough the following people who have made this possible; IMSA, Bestline Auto Tech, Mark Motors, my family and the entire GT3 Cup paddock. The drivers and crew have been awesome with me as I learned weekend after weekend and it is truly a pleasure competing with such a great bunch.”

Next to accept his award, for the 5th year in a row was Marco Cirone, the 2017 Platinum Masters class champion. “We arrived at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park with one goal in mind and that was to win the Masters Championship for Mark Motors” said Cirone. “We achieved that with the great support we have from Bestline Auto Tech. A great big thank you to Mark Motors for their outstanding contributions and commitment to our racing this year.”

Finally, Zach Robichon gracefully accepted his runner-up award in the Platinum class championship. When asked to reflect on this past weekend and the season, Robichon said this; “It’s hard to believe that the season is already over. It’s hard to imagine a season where we never finished out of the top 2! Those results are a testament to the consistency and reliability the Bestline/Mark Motors Racing team provided us with this year. I was thrilled to finish the season with a win since we struggled at the beginning of the weekend. The result showed not only our performance but our resilience following the two 2nd place finishes earlier in the weekend. I’m already missing race season and can’t wait to see what’s next!”

“Really proud of each one of our drivers including Marco Cirone, Roman DeAngelis, Zach Robichon, Valerie Chiasson and Perry Bortolotii and our engineers, Bestline. The 2017 season would not have been a success without this recipe. Thank you for your continued persistence for bringing passion, energy and passion…..it is addictive to be around!” Liza Mrak, co-owner of Mark Motors Porsche.

The 2017 season was hugely successful for the Mark Motors Racing team, not only clinching two championship titles, but predominately placing themselves on the podium at every race. Thank you to all the many fans for your support and cheering on the green machines!

Stayed tuned for what’s to come in the 2018 season.
