Mark Motors Racing teammates Marco Cirone and Perry Bortolotti enjoyed solid podium finishes at the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this past weekend in Bowmanville, Ontario. In a weekend of fierce yet clean competition, the always-competitive Cirone was able to claim his fourth win of the season and Bortolotti took home his second silver medal. After their success this weekend, Cirone is currently in third place and Bortolotti is in eighth, bringing Mark Motors Racing into fourth place overall as they head to Trois-Rivières, Quebec for the next race of the series.

The Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix weekend got off to a rough start in the first race as two yellow flags were raised due to several collisions on the course. That being said, amid the wreckage and drama, Mark Motors Racing drivers Cirone and Bortolotti maintained their focused and were able to secure the third and eighth position in the Masters Platinum Cup.

Mark Motors Racing dominated the second race of the weekend, where Cirone finished in first place and Bortolotti in second in the Masters Platinum Cup. Due to the even distribution of the cars, taking the lead was going to be a matter of patience. Cirone got off to a slow start, losing two positions, but was able to make it to the front of the pack due to the other drivers’ little mistakes. “The race today was about mistakes and who could make the least of them,” said Cirone about winning the Masters Championship. Bortolotti also displayed a strong performance as he was able to take the second place lead and secured his fastest lap time on the track.

“We came off a great weekend and I feel really confident about where Marco and Perry are at in regards to their connection with the cars, enthusiasm and their mindset on what they need to do at each race. The next race of the season will most certainly be exciting for the fans but for the drivers it will be a whole new dynamic with it being a road race in Trois Rivieres. I know that when they show up for this race, they will deliver in all cylinders and make it count,” said Mark Motors Racing owner Liza Mrak.

Coming off the excitement and success of this weekend, Mark Motors Racing is more determined than ever to deliver in the fourth race of the 2013 Ultra 94 GT3 Cup Challenge Canada series, which takes place in Trois-Rivières, Quebec August 9-11. The final race of the series, the 2013 Calabogie Grand Prix, will be held at Calabogie Motorsports Park September 7 & 8 just outside of Ottawa, Ontario.
