Ottawa, ON – The streets of Toronto were paved with platinum for the Mark Motors Racing team during the Honda Indy. Even after a powerful downpour and two-hour delay to Race 1, the team battle through and found success at the fifth event of this year’s Porsche GT3 Cup Canada.

Grabbing pole position with a fastest lap time of 1:12:966, Roman De Angelis ran away with the lead on Saturday and Sunday. No driver could catch the 18-year old speedster, as he captured his sixth and seventh straight wins of the season.

“Awesome weekend in Toronto. Everyone under the tent did an amazing job!” smiled Roman.

“Really good points for us with back-to-back wins.”

Teammate Marco Cirone also swept the Indy weekend with two top podium finishes in the Platinum Master class. He had an impressive showing overall as well, placing fourth and sixth respectively.

“Huge thanks to the Bestline crew for rising to the challenge this weekend and achieving double podium victories. We have increased our lead in the Masters category and closing in on 4th place overall,” Marco applauded.

“This will allow us to be a little more aggressive heading into the next race with our talented competitors from the United States.”

Another highlight for Marco this weekend was racing in front of family and friends. The Toronto-native spent hours after the final race meeting fans and posing for photos with them.

Joining Marco on the Platinum Masters podium, Perry Bortolotti placed second both days. His number 84 Porsche overtook two spots for his sixth-place finish on Sunday afternoon.

Very happy with the two second place finishes this weekend. The Mark Motors race car was perfectly prepared by the Bestline crew’” praised Perry.

“The track and weather were perfect on Sunday. I managed to avoid a couple of early incidents to move up the pack. We had good pace. I could see my teammate Marco just in front of me, running comparable lap times. Finishing one and two was great for the team.”

Liza Mrak, Executive Vice President of Mark Motors, who experienced both races live in Toronto was overjoyed by the team’s continued success at the Indy.

“It’s been an unbelievable season so far,” Liza cheered. “We couldn’t be happier with the team’s performance and loved seeing all the fans out at the paddock on Sunday.”

The Mark Motors Racing team heads down to Wisconsin to compete with the Porsche GT3 Cup USA for Road America on August 2-4.
