Ottawa, Ontario – With the long weekend comes the final race weekend of the season for the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama. The Mark Motors Racing team is preparing to head back to the track where the season started, the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Bowmanville, Ontario. The 2017 season has been extremely successful for the team, finishing on the podium in every race to date.
Driver Marco Cirone is heading into this final race weekend looking to take home the Platinum Masters Championship title for the fifth time in his career. “We will be heading into the last race weekend with a comfortable lead in the points” said Cirone. “It will be a priority to maintain and win this championship for the Mark Motors Racing team. We know our competition is very strong and we will never give up. Fortunately, we have one of the best teams working on our cars so we know we will be ready to battle once the green flag is waved. Canadian Tire Motorsports Park is our home track and we are very comfortable racing there.”
Zach Robichon has shown true determination this season, working tirelessly to take the top spot away from driver Scott Hargrove. The re-scheduled race from Watkin’s Glen will give Zach three opportunities to finish in 1st place before the close of the season. “It’s hard to believe the last weekend of the year is already here” said Robichon. “The season until now has been an incredible team effort and we will look to continue that through the season finale. The 3 race weekend will challenge us but our goal remains to end the season on the top step of the podium.”
Newest driver Roman De Angelis has drawn the attention of many with his domination of the Gold class in his first-ever season racing in the Porsche GT3 Cup. “I really can’t believe this season is almost over” said De Angelis. “I’m really looking forward to capping off such an amazing first season and especially at our home track. I have had the time of my life this past season and cannot thank everyone enough who has made this possible. The folks at Bestline and of course our sponsors Mark Motors are amazing! We will wrap the Canadian championship up this weekend and immediately focus on trying to capture the US championship with Sonoma and Road Atlanta coming up.”
The Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama will race three times during this long weekend, at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Bowmanville, Ontario. Race 1 will start at 4:15 PM EST Friday, September 1st. Race 2 will start precisely at 8:55 AM EST on Saturday, September 2nd and Race 3 will begin at 9:45 AM EST Sunday, September 3rd.
