Mark Motors Racing participated in Canada’s action packed Grand Prix du Canada this past weekend in Montreal, Quebec, where drivers Marco Cirone and Perry Bortolotti brought home the top two podium positions in the first race of Platinum Masters Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Series weekend. Over 100,000 spectators watched with great anticipation as Marco Cirone and Perry Bortolotti put on a great show at the Circuit Villeneuve while battling it out with their highly skilled opponents. With a strong victory Saturday, Mark Motors Racing was on a high going into Sunday’s race more focused and determined than ever. But Sunday’s race turned into a track of wreckage creating much damage and resulting in numerous collisions where 6 cars could not complete the race, one of those being Ottawa’s Perry Bortolotti.
“This weekend had it highs and lows. Saturday seeing both of our drivers on the top of the podium was such a great way to start the weekend and such a proud moment for Mark Motors. Unfortunately Sunday our team wasn’t so lucky and ended up being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Mark Motors is working on the cars and we will be ready to finish on top of the podium for the next race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park! Overall this was a great weekend for our team.” said Mark Motors Racing owner Liza Mrak.
The Grand Prix du Canada featured legendary Formula 1 races as well as the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin. Last year the Grand Prix du Canada only featured one Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin race, but this year drivers competed twice at the historic Circuit Gilles-Villenueve track, which just shows how this Canadian series is becoming more popular.
After the events this weekend, the Mark Motors Racing Team is currently in 4th place overall. Although Mark Motors Racing suffered setbacks this weekend, they are more determined than ever to harness their abilities to prove to the racing world that they are truly a force to be reckoned with and that they will have a very successful future at the 2013 Ultra 94 GT3 Cup Challenge Canada Series.
The fourth race and third weekend of the 2013 Ultra 94 GT3 Cup Challenge Canada series will take place in Bowmanville, Ontario July 19-21 for the 2013 Grand Prix of Canadian Tire Motorsports Park and the final race will be at Calabogie Motorsports Park September 7 & 8.
