Mark Motors Racing has been a part of the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada series by Michelin since the beginning, helping to foster a platform where the series can continue to develop year after year. After all, this is what Porsche is all about… and this year, we are bringing in young talent and some new blood to the series!
After five admirable years in the series, Perry Bortolotti will be passing down the torch to Harry Steenbakkers, Mark Motors Racing’s newest team member. Harry’s passion for racing began at a young age with his joy for snowmobiling. His love for speed quickly moved to cars as soon as he could reach the pedals.
Harry has experienced massive success in his career so far, holding several class records at his home track Calabogie Motorsports Park, including first place finish in the Canadian SuperCar Series in 2014, second place overall in the ChumpCar Enduro Series in 2014, as well as finishing 2nd overall in the GT-3 MCO Ted Powell Regional Race event in 2014, and in 2013, he was the youngest participant to have ever partaken in the 2013 Skip Barber IndyCar Academy Shootout.
After capturing two consecutive Platinum Masters Driver Championships in the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada series, veteran driver Marco Cirone is gearing up to accomplish an unprecedented third championship in a row! Marco started preparations for the defense of his Platinum Masters championship in the Canadian series in the best way possible… by winning at Sebring in Florida!
Cars change every year, and we need to be as progressive as the cars we drive. Marco will be driving the newest version of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car in this upcoming series. A new car means new challenges for the driver and the mechanics, but the Mark Motors Racing team has been working hard on it to maximize its performance. Marco is excited to drive the newer, faster and safer racecar and push it to its limits at every race.
Mark Motors Racing will be taking on a new direction by bringing in guest drivers to experience the series and essentially help the series grow. We will start the season with Ron Tomlinson, a local Ottawa driver who is new to the series, and will be driving the gold car.
The 2015 Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin series starts on Victoria Day Weekend, May 15-17, at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario. This year’s race locations include Toronto, Calabogie Motorsports Park, and Grand Prix Trois-Rivières, with two 45-minute rounds at every series event.
After two successful seasons filled with triumphs and unforgettable experiences, Mark Motors Racing is back and better than ever and is ready to take home the championship in 2015! We look forward to a highly competitive and exciting race season, and can’t wait to see you out at the track!
