TORONTO, ON –
Still fresh from Rounds 7 and 8 at the Toronto Indy, the Mark Motors Racing team prepares for the upcoming historic Grand Prix Trois-Rivieres weekend with the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama series.
This week the Mark Motors Racing team will travel to the second city circuit on the Porsche GT3 Cup season schedule in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec. Set in the heart of the famous Quebec city, the GP3R is in it’s 47th edition and is regarded as one of the most iconic destinations for professional motorsport in North America.
Mark Motors Racing drivers Zacharie Robichon and Marco Cirone are looking ahead to the weekend, prepared for the challenges that lay ahead at the tight, corner-ridden circuit.
Robichon, rookie to the GP3R circuit, will be piloting the #78 Mark Motors Porsche GT3 Cup Car. Currently sitting in third place in the overall standings, Robichon aims to learn the new track as quickly as possible to help him compete for the win.
Robichon speaks out about the weekend, “Trois-Rivieres will be a very exciting weekend. It is my first time at the historic venue and I can’t wait to race on the same streets as some of Canada’s most famous champions. My work is cut out for me as I must learn the new track, but the Mark Motors racing crew has been providing me with the perfect car all year and I know it will continue this weekend.”
Teammate Marco Cirone, driver of the #88 Mark Motors GT3 Cup Car will be returning to this track for the 4th consecutive year at the GP3R with the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama series. Cirone, currently sitting in first place in the Platinum Masters Championship and fourth place in the overall Platinum Championship standings, aims to bring yet another successful race weekend to his dedicated team.
Marco shares his feelings on the upcoming races, “I am really looking forward to Trois-Rivieres. It is one of my favorite races. There is no other event that brings such a great atmosphere like there is in Quebec. It is a great privilege to race in front of so many knowledgeable and passionate racing fans. The team is looking to rebound from some interesting challenges faced in Toronto. As we get closer to the end of the season, we will need to focus on scoring as many points as possible.”
Sharing the track with other professional race series, including the Nascar Pinty’s Series and Canadian Touring Car Championship, the Porsche GT3 Cup Car drivers will have two practice sessions on Friday to get ready for the weekend. The first race of the weekend I scheduled for 11:10am following an early morning qualifying session. Then, to finish off the weekend, race 2 will be at 10am on Sunday morning.
Robichon, now standing a mere 8-points back from second place in the overall standings, will look to continue his incredible rookie season with only four rounds left in the season for the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada series.
Cirone, while leading the Platinum Masters Championship, focuses on maintaining that title and scoring valuable points for the Mark Motors Racing team in the overall Platinum Championship standings.
The duo are well on their way to top 5 positions in the standings with Mark Motors Racing, with only two race weekends left on the schedule. After a few minor bumps in the road at the Toronto Indy, the team is now more focused and prepared than ever to take on the final rounds of the championship.
