Toronto, ON –
After a busy season schedule, the Mark Motors Racing team prepares to bring their driver’s back to where the season started for the final rounds of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada this long weekend.
The 2016 season has brought some thrilling moments to the Mark Motors Racing team within the Canadian-based racing series. With stops at the Formula Grand Prix in Montreal, the Toronto Indy, and the GP3R in Trois-Rivieres, QC, the Mark Motors Racing team has seen some of the most competitive tracks in Canada and has impressed many spectators at each race weekend.
With heavy competition, brings tougher challenges; and the Mark Motors Racing team has seen some tough battles. Although the battles have been fierce, the team currently leads the standings in the Platinum Masters Championship and stands third in the overall Platinum Championship points. This gives them a comfortable entry into the last two races of the season for Rounds 11 and 12.
Although their last weekend in Trois-Rivieres, QC brought minor hardship for Zacharie Robichon in the #78 Mark Motors Racing Cup car due to mechanical issues in Round 9, the team was able to make their comeback in Round 10 and performed well to take home a podium win for the team.
Robichon, being his first season in the GT3 Cup and his first time racing competitively in a GT class car, has shown that he can adapt to the challenges that are thrown at him on track and off track. He looks to bring home third place for the Mark Motors Racing team overall for the 2016 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada season.
Robichon speaks out on the race ahead, “The season finale is here! We’re back at my home track of Canadian Tire Motorsport Park where I am very comfortable. This season has been absolutely amazing with new tracks and some exciting races for me. The team will be looking to finish off the season strong and end it with a bang. We will have the car to fight for a win this weekend and I am looking forward to challenging up front. “
Marco Cirone, in #88, placed well among his class with two second place Platinum Masters wins in Rounds 9 and 10. He looks ahead to this upcoming weekend with confidence as CTMP is him home track, one that he has been driving for 10 years.
Cirone, three-time Platinum Masters Champion, and expert at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park circuit sits fourth overall in the Platinum Championship, and first in the Platinum Masters Championship. He looks to bring home the first place trophy for the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada Platinum Masters Championship for the fourth year in a row.
Cirone comments on his home track’s big race weekend, “Heading into the last weekend I feel like it’s going to be extremely competitive. It is important for us to maintain and protect our lead for the Platinum Masters Championship. CTMP is our home track and we know it very well. We have always had good results there and we expect the same this weekend. Although anything can happen when it comes to racing, being consistent and mistake free will be the key to the Championship.”
The schedule for the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park weekend presents the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama Round 11 race on Saturday at 2:50pm and Round 12 on Sunday at 9:45am.
