Harsh weather conditions and a notoriously difficult road course proved itself to be challenging for Mark Motors Racing in the fifth race of the 2014 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada. Trois-Rivieres was one of the most highly anticipated race weekends of the series, as spectators from near and far came to watch the exciting, clean and competitive races. Much like Honda Indy Toronto, Trois-Rivieres is a road course with tight corners and temperamental concrete. Not only were competitors racing on one of the most difficult tracks in the series, but it was also one of the hottest weekends of the summer. These conditions proved to be challenging for Mark Motors Racing and their competitors.
Mark Motors Racing experienced early setbacks in Race 1 at Trois-Rivieres. Starting in 6th position, Marco’s cooling box was not fastened properly, causing water to leak within the car. From the stands, this looked as though fluid was leaking from the engine. Luckily, Crewmembers quickly confirmed to that it was just water leaking from Marco’s cool suit. Ten minutes into the race, Marco spun out in Corner 10, causing him to loose his position and finish in 7th place overall. Perry also experienced similar difficulties in Race 1, spinning out in Corner 8. This caused him to loose his 7th place position, where he finished right behind Marco in 8th place.
Mark Motors Racing put on a much better performance in Race 2. The weather conditions improved, and the race was much cleaner. Race 2 made for a nail biting finish, as drivers were neck and neck throughout the race. Marco started the race in 7th place and was able to maneuver his way up to 6th place overall. Perry also put on an impressive performance and followed shortly behind Marco in 7th place.
Mark Motors Racing now heads to the final race weekend of the 2014 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada on August 31th-31st at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. Marco currently holds the 4th place position overall and Perry currently holds onto 7th place. This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for, and Marco and Perry are prepared to do whatever it takes to finish at the top of the podium!
