After an exciting first event of the season, the Mark Motors Racing team is looking to build on their five podium finishes this weekend at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. Eighteen-year old Roman De Angelis had an impressive showing at CTMP to start the season and hopes to ride that momentum into the Canadian Grand Prix.
“Going into Montreal race weekend is always an amazing feeling and this year even more so after coming off one of my best weekends in my career there last year,” Roman excitedly explained.
“It’s also amazing to be competing for both US and Canadian championship points partnered with both Mark Motors Porsche and Kelly Moss racing in the same weekend! I think the large grid with the United States Championship coming up, the huge fan base, and always amazing Grand Prix weekend will hopefully boost us to keep, and hopefully increase, the championship leads!”
After an unfortunate ending to his second race in the opening weekend, Marco Cirone is eager to get back on the track in one of his favourite events.
“The Montreal Formula 1 weekend is always the most popular race of the season. I’m very excited this year to not only be back, but to race against our talented American competitors. It’s always fun having so may Porsches on the track at the same time,” Marco commented.
“My driving partner Roman did so well there last year, so I will be leaning to him for some helpful insight on this fabulous race track. I hope that we can continue our strong showing from CTMP and keep the Mark Motors Porsche green and chrome right up front where they belong. Can’t wait to get started!”
The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama will race twice during this weekend at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. Race #1 will kick off at 4:30PM EST Saturday, June 8th, followed by Race #2 at 10:15AM EST on Sunday, June 9th.
