Sebring, Florida – Roman De Angelis will be racing for the Platinum Cup in the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama for the first time today in Sebring, Florida.
At just 17 years old De Angelis has an impressive track record. He finished his first-ever season with a Gold Championship title last year. He admits last season was a tremendous learning experience and looks to use that heading into his first race in a new class.
This season, Roman De Angelis will race for both Canada and USA GT3 Cup Challenge series, something he will be attempting for the second time in his career.
“Well it’s the start of a new year for us with lots of exciting and new things happening for me” said De Angelis. “Resigning for Mark Motors Racing in Canada as well as Kelly Moss for the USA series has been a real gift for me. I cannot thank them both enough for this opportunity. Also graduating to the platinum car is very exciting for me and I look forward to competing at that level as well. I feel very confident that we will still battle for wins on both sides of the border. The Sebring weekend is very special as well as it is double weekend where points count for both the USA series and the Canadian series. I am truly looking forward to concentrating my efforts on the GT3 Cup this year and continuing to learn from each race weekend. As always IMSA is a great series to be in and I am very fortunate to be part of such great programs.”
The Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama will race twice this week at Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida. Race 1 will start at 4:15 PM EST Thursday, March 15th. Race 2 will start at 11:15 AM EST on Friday, March 16th. Both can be viewed live via streaming on imsa.com
